To call it a legend is almost an understatement. After more than 50 years of model history, the one millionth Porsche 911 rolled off the production line in May 2017. On 12 September 1963, Porsche presented the 901 model at the IAA in Frankfurt. When series production began the following year, the 901 became the 911, as Peugeot had had all three-digit type designations with a zero in the middle protected. The design of the sports car, for which Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was responsible, provided the stuff of chrome dreams.
